Administrative Team
Susan Papotto
I am currently in my 8th year working in this clinic and in that time, I have had the privilege of working with some amazing colleagues, who have shared their vast knowledge and expanded mine.
Outside of work I have a large Italian family, 4 children and 11 grandchildren, that keep life fun and constant. I enjoy cooking, going to the Theatre, playing Tennis and watching international movies.
Clinical Team
Alisha Gudkar
Alisha holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from India and a Master of Clinical Audiology from the University of Melbourne. She has a particular interest in Auditory Processing and is currently pursuing a joint PhD from the University of Melbourne and University of Manchester investigating underlying causes for Listening Difficulties, Auditory Processing being one of them. She has been working with the clinical team focusing on adult diagnostic audiology and auditory processing disorders since graduating in 2021. Alisha is also involved with clinical tutoring and supervision of current Master of Clinical Audiology students.
Charlotte Anderson
Charlotte is an adult diagnostic audiologist, currently completing her clinical internship through the Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic. Charlotte started her career in Audiology at the University of Melbourne in 2021 as a research assistant working on a hearing and cognition study. She continues to work on this project alongside her clinic work. Charlotte has a keen interest in all aspects of diagnostic audiology, she hopes to eventually expand her clinical work into both adult and paediatric diagnostic audiology.
Zoe McNeice
Zoe holds a Master of Clinical Audiology and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Melbourne. Zoe specialises in adult aural rehabilitation and has worked in this area since 2019. Zoe’s PhD explored ways to improve communication between clients and audiologists during audiology appointments. The findings from this work have been published in leading journals in the field. Zoe is also an Associate Lecturer for the Master of Clinical Audiology degree. She is involved in research projects across a range of topics, contributing to improved outcomes for audiology clients as well as improving the experience, and outcomes, of clinical education for audiology students.
Philippa James
Philippa James earned a Master of Clinical Audiology in 2012 from The University of Melbourne and a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from the University of Florida in 2017. Philippa is based at the department of Audiology & Speech Pathology at The University of Melbourne. She runs an Audiology clinic for autistic children. She has over ten years of clinical experience working with both children and adults in a variety of settings. From 2017, Philippa worked with the global Phonak paediatric team and the Sonova HQ Research & Development team to develop a best practice clinical model for the identification and support of auditory difficulties in autistic children. Her current research continues to focus on auditory supports for autistic children, specifically those with decreased sound tolerance disorders.
Lucy Shiels
Lucy is a paediatric audiologist working in the Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic and the Autism Listening Clinic. She enjoys all aspects of diagnostic audiology and has a keen interest in the area of auditory processing. Her current role in the Autism Listening Clinic involves the assessment and management of listening difficulties in children with Autism and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses. Lucy’s PhD is focused on investigating the benefits of remote microphone technology use in children with listening and attention challenges.
Grace Nixon
Grace has worked as an audiologist specialising in diagnostic audiology and auditory processing disorder (APD) for over 5 years. Grace completed her PhD on auditory processing in 2020 and has since continued working in the audiology research space. She has a special interest in making APD testing and treatment accessible and affordable for families.
Jess Payne
Audiologist and Clinical Educator
Jess has been an audiologist and clinical educator at Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic since 2021, specialising in vestibular and adultdiagnostics. She is in the final year of her PhD in the field of cochlear implants and also provides teaching support for the Master of Clinical Audiology students at the University of Melbourne.
Maryam Zargarbashi
Maryam holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science from Monash University and a Masters degree of Clinical Audiological from the University of Melbourne.
For the last 7 years, Maryam has enjoyed working with both paediatric and adult populations within medical Ear Nose Throat specialist centres. Maryam prides herself on gaining patient trust to deeply understand each client’s needs and hearing goals. This is where she then excels in developing tailored hearing rehabilitation programs to meet desired goals.
Maddi Lang
Maddi joined MTHC in late 2022 as a Senior Audiologist and Clinical Instructor specialising in paediatrics and adult rehabilitation. She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2017 with a Master of Clinical Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Practice with Audiology Australia. Maddi’s previous work experience in regional Victoria and for a charitable hearing aid bank has sparked an interest in reducing barriers to accessing hearing care. In addition to working in our Carlton clinic Maddi runs a paediatric satellite service at Nexus Health in Wallan and she enjoys sharing the experience of a rural clinic with audiology students.
Bernie Rebello
Bernie holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, a Master of Clinical Audiology and Certificate of Clinical Practice from Audiology Australia. She has experience in clinical practice in Australia and the United Kingdom. Bernie has a particular interest in rehabilitation audiology and in the diagnosis and management of balance disorders within the vestibular clinic. She is also involved with the clinical teaching and supervision of current Master of Clinical Audiology students.
Stephanie Sanderson
Stephanie is an audiologist with over 15 years of clinical experience in a range of audiology settings. She has worked as a Senior Audiologist and Clinical Instructor with Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic since 2021. Stephanie has a strong background in rehabilitative audiology for both children and adults and currently enjoys a varied case load of adult and paediatric diagnostics as well as adult rehabilitation and clinical supervision.
Sarah Swann
Sarah Swann is a Senior Audiologist at Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic, with over ten years of clinical experience. She has been a clinical educator, clinician and lecturer at the University of Melbourne since 2017. Sarah’s clinical areas of expertise include adult hearing rehabilitation, tinnitus management and counselling, and musicians hearing care. As a former classical musician, Sarah is very conscious of the importance of hearing care and long term management for musicians, including those with hearing loss and tinnitus. Sarah is also a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, investigating barriers to hearing rehabilitation for musicians with hearing loss and tinnitus. When she’s not in the clinic or at the University, Sarah enjoys spending time with her two energetic little boys, husband and dog.
Julien Zanin
Dr Julien Zanin is a senior audiologist at the Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic and an early career researcher within the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology. Dr Zanin has been working at the University of Melbourne for 8 years and has extensive experience in the provision of hearing rehabilitation services to his clients. Julien holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from The University of Melbourne, which explored the use of novel neuroimaging techniques to investigate changes within the hearing pathways. The findings from his work have been published in leading journals in his field. In addition to his clinical and research roles, Dr Zanin is also lecturer and subject coordinator for the Master of Clinical Audiology course at the University of Melbourne.
Professor Gary Rance PhD
Gary Rance is an audiologist, clinical researcher and Professor at the University of Melbourne where he holds the Graeme Clark Chair in Audiology and Speech Science. His research areas include auditory evoked potentials, auditory neuroscience and the perceptual effects of permanent and transient hearing loss. He is a leader in the field of auditory neuropathy (AN) and was responsible for the first publications to describe this form of hearing abnormality in newborn babies
Alexandra Walchhuetter
Alexandra holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Clinical Audiology from the University of Melbourne. She has worked as an audiologist and clinical educator at Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic since 2018, specialising in adult and paediatric diagnostic assessment. She is also involved in research with cochlear implant recipients, and is currently completing her PhD in the area of infant diagnostic hearing assessment and cochlear implant candidacy. When not at work, Alex likes to play with her two cats, Noodle and Pickle.
Patrick Bowers
Patrick is an Audiologist specialising in Paediatric and Infant testing and has been at the Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic since 2019. He also lectures into the Master of Clinical Audiology at the University and is involved in a range of research projects. He has a keen interest in clinical education and enjoys seeing the progression of students across their studies.
Jocelyn Philips
Jocelyn is a paediatric audiologist who has been at The University of Melbourne and Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic since 2017. Jocelyn is particularly interested in diagnostic audiology for newborns and children. Her current role at The University also allows her to teach students in the Masters of Clinical Audiology course. Jocelyn is currently undertaking her PhD, focused on telehealth in paediatric audiology
Anna Dobbyn Terrell
Anna graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2015 with a Master of Clinical Audiology. She joined the team in 2016 as part of the Clinical Research Graduate Program, where she was involved in various research studies in the area of Auditory Processing Disorder. Anna has since developed extensive experience as a Senior Audiologist and Clinical Instructor, with a special interest in diagnosis and management of balance disorders within the vestibular clinic.
Lauren Story
Lauren has worked at the University of Melbourne Audiology Clinic/Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic since 2017. She undertook her PhD concurrently, and has a special interest in vestibular diagnostics, family-centred care, clinical supervision and education of audiology students. Lauren also teaches into the Master of Clinical Audiology course across a range of topics, including hearing and vestibular diagnostics, clinical foundations and research.
Frank Mount
Clinic Coordinator
Frank holds a Bachelor of Science, a Masters of Clinical Audiology and a Certificate of Clinical Practice from Audiology Australia. Frank has over 15 years of experience in Audiology specialising in paediatrics and adult hearing rehabilitation. Frank is also involved with clinical teaching and supervision of current Masters of Audiology students.
Michelle Todorov
Lead Audiologist
Michelle holds a Master of Clinical Audiology and PhD from The University of Melbourne. Michelle has worked clinically as an audiologist since 2015 and while she enjoys all aspects of audiology, her special interests are adult diagnostics and vestibular audiology. Michelle also works in an academic capacity at The University of Melbourne where she teaches postgraduate audiology students and is involved in various research projects.
Donella Chisari
Donella is a clinician and lecturer at the University of Melbourne and has worked in diagnostics across private and tertiary hospital settings since 2008. She has a special interest in diagnosis and management of people with balance disorders across the lifespan, and leads the Balance Disorders Unit in Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic. Donella lectures students across various subjects within the Master of Clinical Audiology curriculum, is actively involved in clinical education and has a keen interest in providing evidence-based health care, with her clinical research focused on balance and auditory function in various clinical conditions.
Rochelle Ughetti
Lead Audiologist
Rochelle Ughetti is the Lead Paediatric Audiologist at Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic, bringing over 17 years of clinical leadership, along with both operational and project management experience to the role. She holds a Master of Clinical Audiology (CCP) and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from The University of Melbourne, along with postgraduate qualifications from the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Steven Iem
Diagnostic Audiologist
Steven is a diagnostic audiologist and holds a Bachelor of Biomedicine and a Master of Clinical Audiology from the University of Melbourne. Steven has been a member of the Hearing Care Clinic since 2022 and has a keen research interest in cochlear implants and the biological responses to implantation. Steven aims to expand his clinical expertise to include other domains of audiology including vestibular and paediatric diagnostics, as well as auditory rehabilitation.
Tess Lin
Audiologist and Clinical Instructor
Tess holds a Bachelor of Biomedicine and a Master’s degree in Clinical Audiology. With experience in clinics across Victoria and regional New South Wales, she has provided comprehensive hearing care to adults. Tess currently works at the Melbourne Hearing Care Clinic as an Audiologist and Clinical Instructor, with a special interest in adult rehabilitation and auditory processing disorders. She is also involved in delivering audiology screening services to young people at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct.
Dominic Power
Lead Audiologist
Dom has been involved in teaching of Master of Clinical Audiology students for over 20 years, and over that time has worked across all areas of Audiology. Since 2015, he has been leading the rehabilitation team at the University of Melbourne Audiology Clinic, has been involved in establishing the wax management clinic, introducing the Lyric hearing aid and keeping abreast of the rapid technological advancements in hearing aids.
